Cross-Strait Legal Seminar Focusing on Combating Cross-Border Wire Frauds

On August 9, 2024, the Department held the Cross-Strait Legal System and Countering Cross-Border Wire Fraud Seminar. We invited Professor Wang Wen-chieh from the National Chengchi University, Associate Professor Chen Zai-fang from National Yang Ming ChiaoTong University, and Section Chief Li Kun-da from the Division of International Criminal Police of the Bureau to share their insights into the cross-strait legal system and the countering of cross-border wire fraud. In addition, in order to familiarize prosecutors with cross-strait and international mutual legal assistance requests and enforcement practices, the seminar also invited Chief Prosecutor Liang Kuang-Chung, Prosecutor Wang Pei-Ju, Prosecutor Lin Yu-hsuan, Prosecutor Yang Szu-tien, and Prosecutor Yeh Yong-sian of the Division's Mutual Legal Assistance Office, to share their extensive experience and perspectives on the application of the law, case handling, and law enforcement practices.
The seminar covered various aspects of legal applications and focused on enhancing the overall effectiveness and professional standard of combating cross-border crimes. Through a series of exciting lectures and discussions, participants gained an in-depth understanding of the complexity and characteristics of wire fraud cases, and explored how to establish a more effective cross-border cooperation mechanism to enhance law enforcement capabilities. The participants actively participated in the seminar and had in-depth discussions and exchanges of views with the speakers throughout the seminar. The seminar not only provided a deeper understanding of how to deal with cross-border electronic fraud, but also laid a solid foundation for future legal cooperation. The seminar came to a successful conclusion, with participants learning a lot of useful knowledge and skills in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. These valuable experiences will help to enhance the professional standard of the participants in combating cross-border crimes, and also open a new chapter in promoting cross-strait and international legal cooperation.
