Minister Cheng Signs Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Marshall Islands on May 14, 2025, Marking a New Milestone in International Judicial Cooperation

The signing ceremony for the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between Taiwan and its diplomatic ally, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, was held at the Ministry of Justice on May 14, 2025. The treaty was formally signed by Minister Ming-Chien Cheng and the Minister of Justice of the Marshall Islands, Wisely Zackhras.
This is the first mutual legal assistance treaty in criminal matters signed by Minister Cheng since taking office, and also the first such treaty concluded by Taiwan this year. In addition to laying a solid foundation for judicial cooperation between the two allied nations, it also represents a significant step forward in combating transnational crime and safeguarding the rights and interests of their peoples, marking another milestone in international judicial cooperation.
