The Covid-19 epidemic has spread around the world, slowing down the pace of many governmental functions. In face of this gigantic threat, the international judicial cooperation may be obstructed but would still adapt to maintain and thrive by changing the way how the judiciaries from different countries collaborate.

To give our support to our foreign counterparts during this difficult time, MOJ had planned and implemented the "Hands With Hearts Project" since May 2020. By providing practical medical supplies the judicial agencies in several countries, we sent out the warmest regards to our trusted foreign friends.

Minister of Justice, Tsai, Ching Hsiang had written and sent letters of greetings to 20 countries and international organizations, including the UK, Germany, Poland, Italy, Slovakia, the United States, Canada, Saint Lucia, Thailand, Bahrain, Australia, Republic of Palau, Kingdom of Eswatini, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (EUROJUST) and National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) of US., etc.

Minister Tsai expressed his gratitude for the assistance granted by the counterparts and offered to provide them with medical masks if there were any needs. In two months, MOJ had received responses from many Ministers and Attorney Generals, conveying their appreciation for Taiwan’s proposal.

With the help of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, more than 30,000 surgical masks had been dispatched to several of the abovementioned countries. These masks, which will be given to judicial personnel on the front lines, are of great significance for their continued daily operation in their countries.

The "Hands With Hearts Project" had received very positive feedbacks from all over the world. We firmly believe that smooth mutual legal assistance based on good will and trust between countries.

This project echoes what President Tsai, Ing-Wen’s told the world--“Taiwan can help.’’ MOJ will continue to implement this project whenever there is need from our allies.
