The Department of Statistics of Ministry of the Justice is composed of three sections that are responsible for Prosecution, Correction, Judicial Protection, and Administrative Enforcement Statistics. The Department has 64 subordinate units, including 25 units in public prosecutors' offices, 14 units at the administrative execution offices and 25 units in correctional agencies. A combined staff of 188 persons worked in the Department and its subordinate units to collect, compile, analyze and promulgate the official statistical data of justice. In addition to support policy-making, the Department conducts analyses on the prosecuting, correctional, judicial protection, administrative enforcement and humanized conditions of the nation.
We have established a database which regularly obtains information from the MOJ’s Criminal Database and Correction Information system. This statistical database includes data on prisoners, prisoners of parole abated, and cases on investigation and execution. In accordance with service requirements, the Department has built a website and announces major indicators both in Chinese and English every month. Moreover, the following statistical periodicals are published in Chinese: Abstract of Statistics of Justice (Monthly), Monthly Bulletin of Statistics of Justice(Monthly), Key Indicators of Statistics of Justice (Monthly), Statistical Handbooks (Yearly) and Yearbook of Statistics of Justice (Yearly).
